I for one am against incorporation. Many people moved here because they wanted to be away from the city. They don’t want their money going down the drain to all these unnecessary programs. And with the current county commissioners, they are all corrupt and they need to be removed or fired. There in lies the main reason why we don’t need government telling us what we need to do with our money. Gone are the days of public servants who do for the good of the people and community. They don’t have any personal moral accountability. They serve themselves before they serve the community. Case in point! Waist Pro! Someone got paid by waist pro to shove this five year deal down our throats. And now the county commissioners are voting to have the police remove any person at the town hall meetings if they don’t like what you are saying.
So do you think it’s a good idea to incorporate under the current corrupt leadership? We must ask ourselves this question? Incorporation will only make them richer and even more corrupt. They tell people what they want them to know, not what they need to know about their community, our community. And they make $ 74.000.00 dollars a year and take kickbacks!
I am against incorporation not just because of the current county commissioners that are in charge. We moved here because we don’t want government telling our community what we can and cannot do. We moved here because there was no government. We moved here because of the peace and tranquillity that Navarre has to offer.

I'm with you on County Commissioners out of control. Shoving a $50 million courthouse down our throat along with the Waste Pro south end BS! Not to mention screwing with our safe water with an almost horrific move on our Watershed supply!! But you have pointed out the very reason we need to incorporate our precious Navarre community! It's called "Home Rule" that gives our local government more control for our area. Our City Council would be Elected Servants (no pay) and not Paid Politicians (BOCC). We could and would hold them accountable and with one wrong doing remove them immediately!

I am not necessarily against incorporation, but I would like to see numbers compared to more municipalities than what is provided. Fire protection cost really stood out, so I will use that as an example; the City of Gulf Breeze has a volunteer fire department, while Milton City has a relatively small fire department. It seems somewhat disingenuous to say fire protection cost would be comparable, and remain on the level it is now. I am sure that we do not want to revert to volunteer fire protection, and suspect that the expectation would be to have at least the quality of service that is currently provided. Now if this is the cost on top of what is already paid for fire services, it seems to be much more realistic.
Maybe provide a spread sheet on this page with what other municipalities that are similar to size of Navarre pay in services, and what services come with that cost, would be a good idea.

Chris,

This is amazing comment and I appreciate the feedback! I am going to reach out to you separately so I can arrange a time to show you more detail than what is presented on this slide. We have a lot more information in excel documents but it gets very technical very quickly and not everyone is interested in page after page of math so we make this executive summary slides that are easier to digest. We but did "deep dive" the services and I look forward to showing you more of our work!

Cheers,

Wes

I would like to know what incorporation will do to attract national restaurant chains like Longhorns, Carraba's, etc., to Navarre? With potentially 40,000 plus residents, we would become the. 3rd largest city from Pensacola to Tallahassee with not one major sit-down restaurant - unbelievable. No offense to the great local restaurants here, but we shouldn't have to drive to Fort Walton for a steak dinner.
